Junko Tamura

Assistant Professor

Junko Tamura is an Architect and Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture, School of Design and Environment (SDE), at the National University of Singapore (NUS), as part of the Urban Studies Research Group. She obtained her Dr. of Engineering degree from the University of Tokyo and the Master of Excellence degree from TU Delft (the Berlage Insitute, Rotterdam).

After getting her Master degree, she joined MVRDV where she collaborated in research works related to urban densities. Her expertise is on spatial analysis using mathematical model with special focus on African and Asian informal settlements and low-income areas. Her expertise also includes design for spatial upgrading and community participatory processes. She has published several peer-reviewed articles in the renowned Architectural Institute of Japan journals.
