Dr.-Ing. Ir. Heru W. Poerbo, MURP
Dr.-Ing. Heru W. Poerbo is currently the head of graduate program in Architecture at the Insitut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) Indonesia, where he served since 2004 as secretary of the department.
He received his bachelor in architecture from ITB, and continued in Master in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Hawaii, USA. Subsequently, Dr. Poerbo took up his doctoral research at the Universität Kaiserslautern, Germany.
His research Interest is in Urban design and urbanism; computer applications in urban design. Dr.-Ing. Heru W. Poerbo is one of the senior staff at the Center for Urban Design Research (PSUD), as well as the Architecture Design Reseach Group within the School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development ITB. Currently he is involved in the research of algae as green building method, and soundscape reseach in urban setting, as well as low carbon development study in an Indonesian town.
His areas of expertise and teaching are: Urban Design, Architectural Design Methodology, Design Control and Computer Simulation for Built Environment. In addition to actively teaching in the undergraduate program in Architecture and the Master of Urban Design Program, Dr.-Ing. Heru W. Poerbo was also actively involved in community service activities for the municipality of Bandung as member of design review board.
