DESIGNING RESILIENCE IN ASIA WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE THE FOLLOWING TEAMS FOR PICKING UP THE TOP PRIZES AT DRIA 2020/21 INTERNATIONAL DESIGN COMPETITION:
To the best and most creative regenerative and/or mitigation design proposal, solution, and strategy dealing with efficient use and production of resources to reduce carbon emissions and revert the impacts of climate change, regenerating the urban environment, and responding to the sustainable development goals.
The proposal has a very good physical understanding of the watershed of Naga and therefore suggest an interesting strategy of water clusters or ‘oasis’. The strong water management proposal carefully reads the topography of the larger site area and effectively designs the sites of intervention or oases. The implication is that if you design the site and define a sense of place, then additional interventions will come. The consideration of the proposal over an extended time frame is commendable and appropriate. They are mapped and represented well.
SUPERVISOR:
To the best and most creative social and community design proposal, with solutions and/or strategies to cope with and adjust to social threats derived from climate change impacts.
A holistic proposal that confronts climate risk situation and landscape with an inter-scalar approach, which is developed at all scales. It is very context-based and denotes a good understanding of the existing landscape and waterscape. The proposal of diverse types of agricultural land development linked to the housing development schemes is very well related. Likewise, the proposal explores diverse housing typologies and proposes incremental housing as well as the linkage of the house with the existing livelihood schemes.

SUPERVISOR:
To the best and most innovative building technology design proposal, solution, and strategy (architecture, infrastructure, etc.) dealing with mitigation and/or adaptation to reduce climate change impacts.
The proposal introduces an interesting perspective on water management solutions through water retention and agriculture. It is an integrative approach to water management, revitalizing farmland, and community, at a series of scales. At the smaller building scale, its intentions are thorough and the clearest, being based on what typologies and building practices exist in the community.

SUPERVISOR:
Best Workshop Design Presentation
The beautiful project: A Utopian Approach of developing Community’ not only provided a local relatability and public response, but also impressed through its multi-disciplinary approach and creativity.
Congratulations to the teams above once again and we would like to thank all the teams from the 14 Universities for making this edition of the International Design Competition such a success.
