Professor Lam Khee Poh is the Dean of the School of Design (SDE) and Environment, National University of Singapore. He is an educator, researcher, architect and consultant who specialises in life-cycle building information modeling and computational design support systems for total building performance analysis and building diagnostics. He teaches architectural design (with a focus on systems integration), building energy modeling, building controls and diagnostics as well as acoustics and lighting.
Prof. Lam has completed many major funded research projects, including Integrated Concurrent Design of High Efficiency Commercial Buildings, Digital Building Models for Internet Collaborative Design Computing, Industry Building Product Model for Thermal Simulation, Mapping of Sky Luminance Distribution and Computational Prediction of Daylighting Performance, Energy and Airflow Modelling Tools Assessment for Early Design Phase, Modelling the Performance of Energy Recovery Technology for Packaged Rooftop HVAC Equipment, Guidelines and Goals for Green and Healthy Hospital Operations, as well as Architectural and Technical Standards and Guidelines for the Design and Maintenance of Marine Mammal Facilities.
Prof. Lam has been a faculty member of Carnegie Mellon University's (CMU) School of Architecture since 2003. Prior to joining CMU, Prof. Lam was an academic staff at NUS Department of Architecture between 1984 and 1999 and then held a joint appointment in the Department of Architecture and the Department of Building between 2000 and 2003.
His work has been widely published, and he has served as the building performance consultant for several major award winning projects in the private and public sectors in Singapore, China and the US. Prof. Lam is a recipient of the 2013 Alexander Schwarzkopf Prize for Technological Innovation from the US National Science Foundation in recognition of his exemplary research contribution to technology innovation and positive impact on technology, industry and the society as a whole. Most recently, Prof. Lam is elected a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Fellow for his significant contributions to the profession, where the RIBA Fellowship recognises the achievements of Chartered members that have made a significant contribution to architecture, the profession and the community.
