The essence of this design is to apply the four core strategies from its title AGOS (a Tagalog word which means flow): Adaptability, Green, Opportunity, and Safety. The proposal is about adapting into resilient vertical housing towards green architectural design, a housing community that will give an opportunity for the Nagueños to have better lives and a safe environment for the next generation. As for designing in resiliency, the development is designed to adjust with the global changes and lessen the effects of climate change by promoting and restoring a greener state of nature, creating a more livable by offering opportunities and a safe environment to the community.
As this project aims to have an environmentally friendly community, it also offers innovations that make the proposal sustainable. Biomimicry is applied as a concept wherein the design is inspired by how nature solves design problems in a regenerative way, adapting the Riprap from the Naga River which is essential in the city’s cultural tradition fluvial procession during Peñafrancia Fiesta.
The proposal aims to identify the strength of the given site and also its weaknesses to establish a well-planned solution. Naga City suffers from environmental issues, whether it is in natural calamities, poverty, and unemployment, or government issues. We envision that the community design will recreate and would be adopted by other cities. It offers solutions to the current issues concerning the development of the city and the environment.
